Approach

How we work

The four things that happen in an engagement, the values behind them, and the practices those values commit us to.

How an engagement runs

  1. 01

    We wrap around the problem

Not a discovery phase that produces a discovery report. A small team forms around your problem and stays on it.

“Somebody might have a problem that needs solving through data and data insights, and my team will wrap ourselves around the partner and their problem and try to solve it.”
Angkana Whiley, on running the ACT Data Analytics Centre
  2. 02

We co-design it with your people

Design thinking, lean process and agile methods applied to data work — with your policy and delivery people in the room, from the idea through to the thing being live.

  3. 03

Privacy and security are designed in

Sensitive information stays in secure systems. Usage rules are agreed before use, not after. Every product is built with privacy and security provisions from the start.

  4. 04

We build the capability, then leave

The measure of the work is whether your teams can run and extend it once we are gone. That is capacity-building, not a handover document.

Values

Six of them, in the firm's own words. It moves through them on its own — pick one to stop it and stay there.

01

Radical inclusion and belonging

We strive to dismantle barriers and foster an environment where everyone — regardless of background, identity, or ability — can contribute meaningfully and flourish.

02

Integrity beyond reproach

We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards, ensuring our actions and outcomes are transparent, respectful, and accountable to stakeholders and communities alike.

03

Catalysts for positive impact

We are dedicated to creating measurable and meaningful benefits for individuals, organisations, and the planet.

04

Environmental stewardship

Guided by the principles of the circular economy and net-zero commitments, we embed sustainability in everything we do — from policy advice to procurement practices.

05

Global vision, local impact

While tackling global challenges, we prioritise culturally relevant, community-driven solutions that resonate locally and amplify voices at every level.

06

Adaptive leadership and innovation

We empower our partners to anticipate and navigate change, combining forward-thinking strategies with cutting-edge technologies like AI and data analytics.

Practice

The methods those values commit us to.

  • Equity-first consulting framework

We design every strategy, solution, and evaluation to address inequities and amplify the voices of marginalised communities.

  • Human-centred data design

We use participatory methods to align data governance, analytics, and AI solutions with the lived experiences and aspirations of end-users.

  • Circular economy partnerships

We engage suppliers and partners who actively contribute to resource recovery, waste minimisation, and sustainable growth.

  • Agile, data-led decision-making

We empower organisations to adapt quickly to challenges while remaining grounded in evidence-based insights.

  • Continuous improvement ecosystem

By embedding feedback loops and iterative processes, we ensure solutions evolve alongside the needs of our clients and communities.

  • Global best practices alignment

We benchmark our methods against national and global standards, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

If that sounds like the way you want to work, let's talk.
